How we keep X-Alchemy welcoming and useful: what to share, how to treat each other, and what happens when someone gets it wrong.

Treat all community members with kindness and respect.

Post valuable film simulation recipes and photography content.

Foster a supportive learning environment for all photographers.

Content Guidelines

Recipe Sharing

  • Include all relevant camera settings (film simulation, ISO, white balance, etc.)
  • Provide example photos that showcase the recipe
  • Write clear descriptions about the intended look or style
  • Specify which camera models the recipe works best with
  • Test your settings before sharing

AI-Generated Recipes

  • Recipes created with the Film Recipe Builder should be tested on your camera before sharing with the community
  • When sharing an AI-generated recipe, we encourage you to note that it was AI-assisted and include your own example photos
  • Do not spam the community with large volumes of untested AI-generated recipes
  • Add your personal observations and adjustments to help others get the best results

Photography Examples

  • Upload high-quality, properly exposed images
  • Only share photos you have the rights to
  • Avoid heavily edited images that don't represent the recipe
  • Include EXIF data when possible

Enforcement

Warning
First violation of community guidelines
Temporary Suspension
Repeated or serious violations
Permanent Ban
Severe violations or continued misconduct

Reporting

If you encounter content or behaviour that violates our community guidelines:

  • Contact the moderators through our contact page, or email [email protected]
  • Include a link to the recipe, comment, or profile, and a short note on what the problem is
  • Every recipe is reviewed before it goes public, so please flag anything that slipped through

If a recipe from the Film Recipe Builder comes back with settings that are wrong, impossible, or inappropriate, use the report button on the generated recipe itself. That goes straight to us and helps us improve the model.
